In an effort to conquer his fear of thunder and lightening, Pajama Sam leads users to the weather factory in the sky, where he accidentally disturbs the weather system. Users take on the challenge of finding missing parts for the various weather machines, in order to restore the world’s weather to its normal patterns. Pajama Sam and the friends he meets along his journey will entertain children and encourage their participation, curiosity and enthusiasm to get the weather system back in functioning form.
Educational Value
Children are instantly drawn to Pajama Sam 2's computer game facade and exceptional, child-friendly graphics. Luckily for parents, the program holds a lot more. While the program easily holds childrens' attention for hours at a time, they learn valuable spacial relations and mental mapping skills. In addition, they will sharpen problem solving, critical thinking and memory skills, as they explore and search for clues. This program’s investigative set-up forces children to make decisions on their own, in order to achieve an ultimate goal.
Kid Appeal
A seven year old tester stated, "Pajama Sam 2 is better than Pajama Sam 1. It helps you find adventure. I love how you can go wherever you want." Or as one of our parent reviewers noted, "This interactive cartoon provides serious entertainment value".
Ease of Use / Install
Users control the direction of their journey in the weather factory as well as each move along the way. This program will not just "happen," which makes it difficult for a 3, or even a 4 - 5-year-old child to handle. Users must be driven by their own curiosity and strategy, to find and retrieve the missing parts. Many young children do not have the explorative initiative, along with the memory and problem solving skills needed solve the problems in this program. Children ages 6-10 would enjoy the challenge this program presents and would not have much difficulty actually understanding and utilizing the program.
Best for... / Bottom-Line
Pajama Sam 2 combines adventure and problem solving with Saturday morning cartoon quality graphics and characters, which continually keep children interested. Entertainment and educational value are well balanced, resulting in very happy children, as well as satisfied parents. Although our youngest tester, a three year-old, enjoyed Pajama Sam 2, it took a parent's assistance (and a significant amount of time) to help him find some of the objects he sought. If you are looking for an enjoyable parent-child program, Pajama Sam 2 is suitable for the young end of the recommended age range. If not, we would recommend it for the 6-10 range.
