4th Grade Multisubject Software -- The Big Picture

Looking for something with educational content, but not just focused on a single subject? Multisubject software, first targeted at concerned parents of kindergartners, has now proliferated across all the early grade levels. These programs are popular because of their breadth, their ability to give precocious children an early exposure to material prior to seeing it in school, and/or their ability to review and strengthen material children have already encountered in school.

This month SuperKids reviewers took a look at:

• Carmen Sandiego’s ThinkQuick Challenge [for ages 8 to 12] from The Learning Company, uses a quiz-show theme. With multiplayer capacity, and 3 levels of difficulty, students must correctly answer grade-appropriate questions in Math, Science, Language Arts, Geography, History, Art and Music.
